Saint Mary’s High School 1969
the class of 1969
50 years ago we left St. Mary’s with the summer breeze at our backs,
the carefree highway rising to meet us, and the warmth of the sun on our shoulders.
Our parents had taught their children well, and, truth be told,
we were so much older then and we are younger than that now.
Lets be honest. It was the summer side of life.
So, we took a look around and said ‘people, People Get Ready.
We had a Heart Full of Soul, took a Ticket to Ride, and went looking for a little Respect.
We lit a fire, took sad songs and made em better,
we reached out, got ready, met Proud Mary and My Guy, we found somebody to love
and came to realize, came to realize the answer was blowin in the wind.
We were California Dreamin, had Georgia on our minds.
Some of us just went eight miles high.
We’ve seen the bad moon rising, seen wildfires burning, got caught in the crossfire, and, for what it’s worth,
we started our own little revolutions.
Now the time has come today to get back, to shed those 96 tears and give a big old hug to Mustang Sally.
We now know you can’t always get what you want but, knock on wood we still feel those good vibrations.
So, lets continue this magic carpet ride.
As a matter of fact lets take it right up sugar mountain where the sign at the top still says
‘BABY’
you ain’t seen nothing yet’
